Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 30, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to SelfNote. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use our application.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us when registering for SelfNote, as well as data automatically collected during your use of the application:
- Account Information: Credentials such as your email address and username required to create and secure your account.
- User Content: The text, notes, diary entries, and chat histories you submit. SelfNote requires this data to function correctly, as the AI actively analyzes your notes to provide relevant, personalized assistance and context.
- Technical & Usage Data: Automatically collected information, such as IP addresses, browser types, and device characteristics, used to maintain the security and operation of our application.
- Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to authenticate your sessions, remember your preferences, and gather basic analytics to ensure the stability and performance of our service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect or receive for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Manage the Service: Ensuring the core features of the AI and application function seamlessly.
- To Personalize the Experience: Analyzing your notes and context to generate accurate and tailored AI responses.
- To Maintain Security: Monitoring for potential unauthorized access or fraudulent activity.
- No AI Training: We respect the highly sensitive nature of your personal notes and diaries. We strictly prohibit the use of your User Content to train, fine-tune, or otherwise improve any artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Your data is processed solely in real-time to provide you with context-aware assistance and is never aggregated or utilized for generalized model development.
4. Data Security & Storage
- Data Retention & Deletion: Notes and diary entries are stored for as long as you maintain an active account or until you delete them. Once you delete a note or entry within the app, it is immediately rendered inaccessible and removed from our active production databases. Please note that residual, encrypted copies may temporarily persist in our secure, automated backup systems for a limited period (e.g., up to 30 days) before being permanently destroyed.
- Security Measures: We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Access and Request a Copy of Your Data: You can request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Edit or Update Your Information: You can update your notes, diary entries, and account details at any time.
- Request Deletion of Your Data: You can request the complete deletion of your account and associated data from our servers.
Additional Jurisdictional Rights: If you reside in regions with specific data protection laws (such as the EEA, UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may possess additional rights. These include the right to restrict the processing of your data, object to specific processing activities, or receive your data in a structured, portable format. Please contact us to exercise these rights.
6. Children's Privacy
SelfNote is not directed at or intended for individuals under the age of 13 (or the applicable legal age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child without valid parental consent, we will take immediate steps to delete such information from our systems.
